5AM Solutions Chooses IBM as Preferred Partner to Deliver On Demand Business Solutions to Health Care and Life Science Industry Customers

Joins IBM PartnerWorld Industry Networks

PHOENIX, January 5, 2006—5AM Solutions today announced it has achieved industry optimized status in IBM’s PartnerWorld Industry Networks. 5AM can now take advantage of IBM's sales, marketing and technical expertise to develop and deliver solutions that meet customer requirements in the health care and life science industry.

Customers are seeking solutions that can help them better integrate processes and applications and allow them to quickly respond to changing market opportunities -- all key elements in transforming to an On Demand business.

The opportunity was provided due to 5AM's expertise in building an integrated solution with IBM software and hardware to achieve significant customer results, particularly related to the enterprise solution provided to the National Institutes of Health by way of the NIH Neuroscience Microarray Consortium (http://arrayconsortium.tgen.org). Hosted by the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), the consortium is chaired by Dr. Dietrich Stephan, Director of the Neurogenomics Division of TGen. The division is the largest genotyping facility for Affymetrix chips with a throughput of over 50,000 samples using the 10k, 100k and 500k SNP platform. Called the Microarray Enterprise Manager (MEM), the solution connects 4 sites (Duke, UCLA, Yale, and TGen) with over 10,000 extramural scientists funded by 15 NIH institutes.

"With MEM, we need only a single coordinator to run the entire consortium. The solution tracks work progress, houses data, and allows role-based and HIPAA compliant views of the data," said Dr. Stephan.

5AM will use this status to work closer with IBM to capture customers, create marketing campaigns, and advance application development on the IBM platform. The two companies will continue to pursue a standards-based approach to creating on-demand web solutions for the healthcare and life science market. 5AM's expertise using Model Driven Architecture (MDA) to create Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) has been accelerated using the IBM Rational Software Development Suite and IBM WebSphere and DB2 platforms.

"We are excited about strengthening our relationship with IBM to grow our business and strengthen our ability to serve customers in the life sciences," said Brent Gendleman, CEO of 5AM.

"Access to open-standards based products on which to build cost effective solutions is crucial to customers," said Buell Duncan, general manager, ISV & Developer Relations, IBM. "We are pleased that 5AM Solutions has joined PartnerWorld Industry Networks, committing to IBM as a partner of choice, to deliver on demand business solutions to customers within the healthcare and lifesciences industry."

The IBM PartnerWorld Industry Networks provide ISVs with comprehensive business insight, technical resources, networking opportunities, and marketing and sales support designed to help them reach more customers and close deals faster. Participants in the PartnerWorld Industry Networks can team with IBM to bring on demand solutions to market more easily and to ensure these solutions meet specific industry needs, reflecting how customers buy technology today.
