NCI caBIG® Service Provider
5AM helps institutions adapt, enhance and create caBIG® software.
5AM is licensed by the National Cancer Institute as a Support Service Provider for the cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid® (caBIG®). In support of this visionary initiative, we provide software services that let institutions use caBIG® to connect, collaborate, and advance research to treatment. Contact us at cabig@5amsolutions.com for more information.
We can help you–
- Connect your software with caBIG® – If you have existing tools that you want to connect with caBIG®, 5AM can help you get it done.
- Tailor your tools – If you want to use an NCI-provided open source tool, but find that it doesn’t quite suit your institution’s needs, 5AM can adapt and modify it.
- Create the tools you need – If you’d like software built for your institution, 5AM can do it. Our engineers know the domain, the data, the technology and caBIG®. Engage us as consultants, developers, or part of your team.
Why 5AM?
Experience – 5AM has a strong record of building and deploying caBIG® software. Our expertise includes:
- caArray – 5AM re-engineered this open-source, Web-based array data management system. The most widely used caBIG® application, caArray allows researchers to annotate and exchange array data among biomedical institutions. [Case study]
- COPPA (NCI Enterprise Services)– Within the NCI’s extensive suite of applications serving its clinical trial space, COPPA will serve as a core web services that provides a canonical source of commonly referenced information. 5AM was selected to lead two of four key efforts in this complex undertaking involving numerous stakeholders.
- FIREBIRD – 5AM delivered this application to production by significantly improving its functionality and maintainability, working with the Clinical Trials Management System Workspace and the FDA. [Case study]
- caIntegrator2 – 5AM is developing the second generation of caIntegrator, a novel translational informatics platform that lets researchers and bioinformaticians access and analyze clinical and experimental data across multiple clinical trials and studies. caIntegrator2 will lay the groundwork for cross-study comparisons.
- Enterprise Conformance and Compliance Framework (ECCF) – 5AM has actively contributed to the design of this new template for developing software within caBIG®, as members of several architectural groups and as implementers of the artifacts.
- Surgeon General's My Family Health Portrait – 5AM designed and developed the second generation of this standards-based software allowing for the collection of family health history data from patients and its exchange into proprietary electronic medical record systems such as Epic. [Case study]
Technology – 5AM’s software engineers have expertise in interoperability and standards, with a focus on the life sciences. Our team brings deep experience with caBIG® tools and technologies, including the caCORE Software Development Kit, Common Security Module, Model Driven Architecture (MDA), UML analysis and modeling and the caBIG® Compatibility Guidelines and ECCF.
Methods– 5AM's development approach (Glassbox® Software Development) is based on the transparent development of open-source, component-based software in-synch with the caBIG® initiatives (Open Source, Open Access, Open Development and Federation).
