Workflow Management Software
Solving the Issues of Workflow and Collaboration
As a research scientist, you know first hand that email and spreadsheets are not made to handle microarray data, image sets or multi-megabyte datasets. When you collect and share massive amounts of data, email attachment size limits impact the flow of data, and impede the progress of your research. What can you do? 5AM has built dozens of solutions that directly address the common issues of workflow and collaboration. We can create tools to help you get your research on track and increase the pace of progress.
Our solution for the NIH Neuroscience Microarray Consortium provides workflow functionality at both the inter- and intra-institutional level, allowing multiple institutions to collaborate on the approval and assignment of projects.
Optimize Your Workflow
5AM has helped our clients move away from spreadsheets and paper and into a software-supported process that realizes study protocols by permitting review and approval of work in the workflow; support sample collection, storage, shipping, and receiving; guide investigators and clinicians through patient visits and scheduled and unscheduled events. One such solution, the Microarray Enterprise Manager (MEM), provides workflow functionality at both the inter- and intra-institutional level, allowing multiple institutions to collaborate on the approval and assignment of projects. Once a project is assigned to a particular institution, MEM provides lab workflow functionality that allows the scientist to track the progress of the experiment, allowing all stakeholders to monitor experiments as they are performed.
Enable Greater Collaboration
Collaborating across institutions is complex enough without software. If installing software within your own institutions is difficult enough, installing it in your collaborators’ offices may seem impossible. Our web solution for the Ivy Foundation/TGen brain cancer research doesn’t require installation, but is secure, private, and important to the success of the research. Using a combination of existing web applications, our web solution provided the speed, collaboration, ease of use, and controlled exposure that the collaborators required. Our solution allows inter-institutional data contributions from diverse participants and enables a study-specific workflow to be followed across institutional bounds. In this case, software wasn’t another task to be dealt with...it was the tool enabling the research itself.
